The young woman made a rare appearance on the red carpet of the Cabourg Festival on Saturday June 15. A look back at the career of this discreet producer, who remained close to her parents.

“I love the world of cinema, it dazzles me…,” she declared in 2015, in the columns of the magazine She. But I also find it terrifying.” If Nelly Auteuil has always flirted with the world of the seventh art, the daughter of Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle Béart has never really tasted the spotlight. Recently, however, the 32-year-old young woman has agreed to step into the light. She actually produced Thread, a feature film directed and performed by his father. And also attended, on Friday June 14, the coronation of the actor, winner of an honorary Swann during the Cabourg Festival, before walking the red carpet alongside Hugo Gélin, also producer of the film, the next day.

Born in 1992 from the relationship between Daniel Auteuil and Emmanuelle Béart (a couple from 1984 to 1995), Nelly Auteuil has, of course, tried her hand at comedy. At 10 years old, she starred in the feature film Small cuts (2003), by Pascal Bonitzer, alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and her father. But the experience marks a turning point – or rather, a turnaround. Nelly Auteuil is certain: she is not cut out to become an actress. Which doesn’t stop him from going through, from time to time, the scenarios his parents receive. But in 2015, she decided to take another path: that of law.

The student passes the bar, then becomes a lawyer in literary and artistic property law. But here it is: Nelly remains an Auteuil, one of those who cultivate an unquenchable passion for cinema. Propelled to the forefront in July 2017 by a portrait published on Emmanuelle Béart’s Instagram account – her daughter’s translucent gaze is reminiscent of her own in Manon of the sources (1986) – the young woman subsequently decided to become a producer. A way of remaining behind the scenes, while continuing to evolve in this universe that fascinates her so much.

Family pride

She will wait until October 2019 to take her first steps on the red carpet, during the Lyon Light Festival. Daniel Auteuil and his daughter also appear together on the red carpet of the César, in February 2020. Since then, Nelly Auteuil has become director of development within the Zazi Films production structure. She produced the short film Waiting for my tears to comeby Simone Hazanavicius and Luàna Bajrami, before tackling the feature film Thread. In this context, Nelly Auteuil even created an Instagram account, on which she promotes the film, in particular by publishing photos of her and the team at the Cannes Film Festival.

“It’s always a source of pride,” the actor recently confided to Nice morning, about his collaborations with his daughters. An esteem that Emmanuelle Béart also expresses towards Nelly. In April, the actress announced in an Instagram story that Thread would be screened during the Cannes Film Festival. “Proud mom!” she wrote in the caption of a photo of her daughter, wearing sunglasses and a silver skirt, and immortalized on a boat, a drink in hand. “Cannes Festival for her first film as a producer!”

In February, Emmanuelle Béart sang the praises of all her children in the magazine She . The actress described them thus – Nelly, Yohann, born in 1996 from her relationship with the musician David Moreau, and Surafel, adopted in 2009 with Michaël Cohen – as “super brilliant, super serious, super not like her!”. “My terror was having child actors, well, according to the stereotype, spoiled and lazy brats,” she declared at the time. Well they are immense workers and that is my immense pride. Which I share with their fathers, of course. For me, fathers are sacred!” Nelly Auteuil seems, in fact, to have found her way.

Simone Veil’s grandson

On the private side, Nelly Auteuil married Lucas, the grandson of Simone Veil, on August 24, 2018. Both were united in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, under the tender gaze of Emmanuelle Béart. She published a photo of the bride on her social networks, immortalized from behind. And expressed his emotion in the caption of the post. “Oh my little one…,” she wrote. Take good care of yourself… Lulu Nana forever.”

Over the years, Nelly Auteuil has remained close to her family. “I have lost nothing with my children, never, with any of them, my daughters and my son”, declared his father in particular in “C à Vous”, in March 2023. He then mentioned Nelly, Aurore, born in 1981 from his romance with Anne Jousset, and Zachary, born in 2009 from his relationship with the painter Aude Ambroggi.

Nelly Auteuil, for her part, would have welcomed a baby in 2023. In a story by Emmanuelle Béart, published in 2023, Lucas Veil appears with a child in a sailor shirt in his arms, alongside his wife and his step-in-law. mother, immortalized at Rosa Bonheur. And if Nelly Auteuil could walk the red carpet again as part of future projects, it is indeed sheltered from the objectives that the thirty-year-old now prefers to evolve – preferably, surrounded by her family.
