It’s the end for Valérie Plante: Richard Martineau drives the point home

Richard Martineau recently humiliated Valérie Plante in public, adding to the nightmarish week that the mayor of Montreal is experiencing.

Earlier this week, it was Gary Bettman who harshly criticized the management of Montreal’s streets, cluttered with orange cones and closures, jeopardizing the holding of the 4 Nations Tournament in the city.

Martineau hit the nail on the head, launching a call for the resignation of Valérie Plante, affirming that she must leave as quickly as possible.

Martineau, in his column, sarcastically praised a “brilliant” idea from Plante to save Montreal. He describes how the mayor, looking up from her comic book projects, had a flash of genius: to court film producers in Los Angeles so that they would come and shoot their films in Montreal.

“Madame Plante looked up from her desk where the first boards of her next comic were lying, she looked at her city and said to herself: “But what the hell can I do with a hole like that? »”

Then she had a flash.

According to Martineau, the dilapidated state of Montreal’s infrastructure makes it a perfect location for post-apocalyptic films.

Rutted streets, closed businesses and graffiti, not to mention “zombies” in the alleys, make for an ideal setting without the need for expensive special effects.

“You want potholed streets? We have them!

Boarded up businesses? We have some!

Fronts of houses covered in graffiti? We have some!

We even have zombies wandering through nasty alleys.”

This scathing criticism does not stop there. Martineau evokes the general state of disrepair of Montreal and Quebec, with aging and poorly maintained infrastructure.

He highlights the urgent need for renovation in metro stations, schools, roads, and even the Olympic Stadium, while the building stock of CEGEPs is rapidly deteriorating.

“All of our infrastructure is falling apart. In Montreal, but also elsewhere in Quebec.”

“Several Montreal metro stations are in urgent need of maintenance. Many schools are dilapidated. Half of Quebec’s roads are in poor condition. The Olympic Stadium must be renovated from top to bottom. And according to the Auditor General, the two-thirds of CEGEP real estate is deteriorating at high speed.”

Martineau goes so far as to compare the current situation to a dramatic science fiction film, ironically recalling that the film “Green Sun”, filmed in 1973 and set in 2022, described a world in decline similar to what he perceives in Quebec today.

“It’s like the science fiction film Green Sun, with Charlton Heston. Remember: everything is falling apart, everything is falling apart, the only thing that works is the euthanasia centers where we allow people who are tired of dragging their lips by watching films showing what the Earth was like in the past.”

Before the decline.”

Do you remember when this film was set in 1973?

In 2022.”

For Martineau, the situation in Montreal reflects a deep malaise and an inability to meet the fundamental needs of citizens.

Her harsh criticism of Valérie Plante makes the web tremble. The mayor must absolutely resign. Before it’s too late…and Montreal is destroyed forever…
