Hélène Pastor shot dead in cold blood in the streets of Nice: the Monegasque billionaire victim of an ambush 10 years ago to the day

It’s a case that caused a real shock wave on the Côte d’Azur. On May 6, 2014, Hélène Pastor was seriously injured in a shooting, plunging the cities of Nice and Monaco into shock. It must be said that the 77-year-old businesswoman is not just anyone in the region? At the head of an unprecedented real estate empire, she then had a “fortune estimated at 12 billion euros”as indicated Nice morning in today’s edition.

If her driver and trusted man, Mohamed Darwich (63), succumbed to his injuries on May 10, Hélène Pastor was taken to hospital in critical condition, but did not die instantly. After several days in a coma, the businesswoman succumbed to her injuries on May 21 at Saint-Roch hospital in Nice. The shooting which cost the life of the wealthy Monegasque took place near the L’Archet hospital in Nice, while she was going there, “like everyday”to watch over his son, Guido, “stroke victim”. Her driver is waiting for her at the wheel of his vehicle and when Hélène Pastor comes out, the car starts, but “for two-three meters only”as stated Nice morning.

His son-in-law ordered the assassination

“Arise from nowhere, a hooded man introduces himself. The barrel of a hunting rifle shines and a salvo of pellets hits the unfortunate woman in the chest and face., describe our colleagues. Despite her injuries, Hélène Pastor managed to come out of a coma to confide “his fear” to investigators who went to his bedside after the shooting. “I want to see you again, I have something else to tell you”, will it also slip to them. Unfortunately, the sister of Michel Pastor, former president of AS Monaco, will not have time to confide in investigators since she succumbs to her injuries shortly after.

Despite everything, the investigation is progressing well and “the commando, composed of two men” is quickly confused, which makes it possible to trace the person behind this double murder, Wojciech Janowski, who is none other than the companion of his daughter, Sylvia. Defended by Éric Dupond-Moretti, the former son-in-law of Hélène Pastor proclaimed his innocence, until the eve of the trial, when his lawyer indicated that he admitted having ordered this assassination. Wojciech Janowski is sentenced to life imprisonment, “a sentence confirmed on appeal on November 12, 2021”as indicated Nice morning. The Court of Cassation will reject his request in June 2023, rendering the final judgment.
