Uonce again, The Mona Lisa finds himself at the heart of a dilemma between and Italy. This iconic work, which attracts millions of visitors to the Louvre museum in each year, is threatened by a possible return to Italy, the native country of its illustrious artist, Leonardo da Vinci.

An enigmatic organization called International Restitution approached the Council of State to demand the repatriation of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting to Italy, as reported by TF1. In her request, she claims to act on behalf of the descendants of the heirs of the famous painter and requests that the work be purely and simply removed from the museum’s inventory.

The association, whose headquarters and leaders remain unknown, is not its first attempt. However, until now she had been interested in less famous works than the famous portrait of Mona Lisa.
