Under pressure, the president of FC Barcelona Joan Laporta welcomed on Tuesday the temporary re-registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, whose licenses had been canceled by La Liga, and denounced “destabilization attempts” against his club.
“We are back to the 1-1 rule (1 euro generated, 1 euro to spend) financial fair play, which now allows us to normally recruit and register players like Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. This confirms the strength of FC Barcelona and dismantles a certain apocalyptic discourse“, Laporta said during a long press conference lasting almost two hours.
The Barcelona president, publicly criticized for his management by several groups of supporters and club figures, denounced “attempts to destabilize from without and from within” aimed at degrading the image of Barça, the decision of the Higher Sports Council to grant the temporary re-registration of the two Spanish players having been perceived as unfair by several La Liga clubs and by its president Javier Tebas.
Asked several times about the mechanism that allowed the Catalan club to come into compliance with financial fair play, Laporta confirmed the recent signing of “best sports equipment supplier contract” in the world of football with Nike, valued at 1.8 billion euros until 2028, and the sale, at the end of December, of the operation of VIP seats at Camp Nou, still under construction, for an amount estimated at 100 million euros over 20 years, to Qatari and Emirati companies.

Barça had therefore not respected the deadline set by La Liga, which logically considered that the licenses of the two Spaniards had expired, ensuring that the current regulations prevented a player from obtaining a license in the club to which he was already linked to the during the same season.
Officially re-registered with La Liga, Olmo, recruited for 60 million euros this summer, and the young Pau Victor will be able to play again in the Blaugrana jersey, until the Spanish football authorities decide whether or not to change their regulations in the face of this unprecedented case.
