The invitation cards have arrived. The guest list to attend, on January 20, at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony in Washington is starting to become clearer. Traditionally, no foreign head of state or government is invited to this ceremony, but Donald Trump has decided otherwise.
-The president-elect invited several foreign leaders, including the Chinese president Xi Jinpingwho declined this invitation. On the other hand, the head of the Italian government Giorgia Meloni or the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbanshould make the trip to the American capital. On the American side, the Argentine president Javier Miley confirmed having received his invitation, as well as that of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele. Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonarowho has often been compared to Donald Trump in Brazil, is also on the list.
On the French side, the president of Reconquest, Eric Zemmour and the MEP Sarah Knafoannounced that they will attend the inauguration ceremony. The elected official attended a seminar last summer at the Claremont Institute, a conservative think tank close to Donald Trump. She also uses the elected president as a model for the French conservative right.
Among the notable personalities who did not receive an invitation card, we findhe President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, whose spokesperson said she had not been invited, “and there are no plans to participate”she clarified. In France, Marine Le Pen’s entourage told AFP that no invitation to the inauguration ceremony had yet been received by the leaders of the National Rally.
