Landing like a tornado on the New York scene in the mid-70s, Blondie left a lasting mark on its era. Led by its leader Debbie Harry, a sex symbol iconized by portraits of Andy Warhol, the group stood out with its punk-rock energy before becoming a hit around the world with more new-wave or disco-oriented hits. Thus, in 1978, their third album “Parallel Lines” brought the band worldwide fame. Supported by the singles “One Way Or Another”, “Sunday Girl”, “Hanging on the Telephone” and especially the powerful hit “Heart of Glass”, the record sold more than 20 million copies. In the process, the group squats at the top of the charts with “Rapture”, “The Tide Is High”, but also “Call Me”. Since its beginnings in 1973, Blondie has sold more than 40 million records worldwide. A beautiful discography which will be expanded with a new chapter in 2025.

After eight years of absence!
In fact, a new Blondie album is about to be released this year! It was last October that Chris Stein, guitarist and co-founder of the group, announced the good news on his social networks, by sharing a black and white photo of Debbie Harry, sitting in a recording studio. “ New Blondie album next year » he wrote then, arousing the excitement of fans and some celebrities like the American singer Sharon Van Etten or the actor Shane West. A few weeks ago, the musician did it again by announcing major new information: this new record will be produced by John Congleton, who has already worked on albums by Lana Del Rey, Gossip, Nelly Furtado, Franz Ferdinand, Wallows (” Nothing Happens”), Phoebe Bridgers or Marilyn Manson.

Aside from this name, the details surrounding this twelfth and new Blondie album still remain unknown. This will be the group’s first record since “Pollinator”, released in May 2017 and entered fourth in sales on British soil. We hope that this 12th studio opus will be followed by a tour, Blondie having not given a concert in France since his visit to the Olympia in June 2017.
