This family business from Cahuzac-sur-Vère regularly stands out for its innovations in the electric pruning shears market, in which it is the world leader. She has just won the INPI Export Trophy.

In 1985, Daniel Delmas invented Electrocoup in the basement of the family gas pump, in Cahuzac-sur-Vère. The story could have ended there, with an intuition or a flash of insight, but he also succeeded in the most difficult part: the transition to the industrial stage.

On November 27, the company, now managed by Davy Delmas, the founder's son, was one of the five winners of the INPI Trophies and won its “Export” category.

The Cahuzac company, world leader in electric pruning shears, has never left its Tarn village, but it operates in around forty countries in both hemispheres. It employs 120 employees

Dany Delmas never wanted to move away from it. A “let’s live happily, live hidden” combined with “we want to live in the country”.

The Electrocoup – ever more powerful, lighter, more secure with more autonomy – has revolutionized vine pruning work, with nearly a million cuts to be carried out each season. As soon as it was put on the market, this innovation was very popular in the fields of viticulture, but also by professionals in olive growing, arboriculture and green spaces. Infaco SA protects its products with international patents and model registrations covering their design: it has registered six in 15 product families and under 12 brands.

“We were made aware of the importance of industrial property from the genesis of our project, in particular thanks to the INPI diagnosis, which led us to strengthen our patent strategy,” explains Davy Delmas, who joined the company in 1996. sixteen years in the company, starting in the workshop. “Our innovation approach is inspired by that of designers: it is collective, centered on the user and their needs.”

It takes five or six years to develop a pruner and, above all, launch it at the right time. Moreover, the research and development department ensures that it always stays one step ahead. Infaco SA devotes 2.5 million euros per year to it, which is 6% of its turnover (42.5 M€).
