The Togolese government has launched a vast operation called “KELIGOU” to fight against the growing insecurity characteristic of festive periods. The objective: to guarantee a serene environment for citizens throughout the national territory, as the end-of-year holidays approach.

The Togolese Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Ambassador Calixte Batossie Madjoulba, announced the launch of a security operation called “KELIGOU” (meaning “vigilance” in the local language) throughout the national territory.

Launched on December 20, 2024, this operation aims to counter the usual increase in insecurity during the holiday periods, characterized in particular by “ acts of crime, delinquency, banditry and road accidents », Specifies the press release received by APA.

The system includes administrative and judicial police actions, including “ raid and area control operations, security and proximity patrols day and night, identity checks and road checks”as well as arrests which could lead to police custody.

Citizens can contact 1014 for the Ministry's Call Center, 117 for the National Police, 172 for the National Gendarmerie, 118 for the Fire Department and 170 for the National Civil Protection Agency.

The authorities recommend that citizens systematically carry an identity document when traveling and documents relating to their vehicles during this period.

This operation is part of the authorities' desire to “guarantee the celebration of the end-of-year holidays in a peaceful and serene atmosphere” throughout the national territory.
