Attack on the Magdeburg Christmas market: “As if the world had stopped…”, the drummer of the group Tokio Hotel narrowly escaped the attack

All the members of the pop rock group are from this German city located on the banks of the Elbe.

This Friday, December 20 in the evening, the Magdeburg Christmas market in Germany was the target of a ram car attack. The vehicle traveled nearly 400 meters down the aisles, mowing down numerous people. The current toll shows 5 dead and some 200 injured, some of whom are in serious condition.

On Instagram, Gustav Schäfer expressed his dismay following this attack. THE drummer of the band Tokio Hotel stood at the scene of the attack a few moments before the events. “Yesterday should have been a carefree day at the Magdeburg Christmas market – full of lights, laughter and the scent of Christmas, the festival of love. We feel numb. Only a few moments separated us from a moment that changed everything for many people”he wrote.

“Nothing happened to us physically and we are eternally grateful. But psychologically, it's as if the world has stopped for a moment. Thoughts are racing, hearts are heavy and the question 'why?' don't leave us”. Stunned, the musician struggles to recover from this event that he almost suffered.
