Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounces a “rotten” political-media “atmosphere”

In a video published Monday evening on his Youtube channel, the rebellious leader raged against the logic which would dictate that “anyone who opposes the genocidal policy of Benjamin Netanyahu should immediately be accused of anti-Semitism”.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon raises his voice. One year to the day after the great march against anti-Semitism in the wake of the October 7 terrorist attack – in which the Insoumis did not participate -, the former presidential candidate returns to the criticisms regularly made against his troops on this subject. While the movement coordinated by Manuel Bompard is accused of being ambiguous towards Hamas, while fanning the embers of anti-Semitism, the tutelary figure of LFI denounced a «ambiance» political-media “rotten” in a video published Monday evening on YouTube. An allegedly harmful ecosystem and “created from scratch so that it ends badly” for the Rebels, who already feel “a danger”.

Based on this observation, Jean-Luc Mélenchon put Bruno Retailleau in his sights to “attacked rebellious parliamentarians” in order to “accuse them of anti-Semitism. A reference to the controversial tweet from LFI MP Marie Mesmeur – seeming to justify the attack on Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters in Amsterdam this weekend “because they were racist and supported genocide” -, which the Minister of the Interior immediately reported to the public prosecutor to “apology of crime”. No matter if this publication has angered a large part of the political class, including left-wing figures, Jean-Luc Mélenchon delivers a harsh analysis: “Anyone who opposes the genocidal policies of Benjamin Netanyahu is immediately accused of anti-Semitism”.

“Harassed day and night”

While LFI officials have multiplied anti-Israel declarations and maintained vagueness about the causes of the new anti-Semitic outbreak in (the acts have increased fourfold in one year according to Beauvau), Jean-Luc Mélenchon deplored that “several (Rebellious) had to change their phone number because(ils) were harassed night and day. And that “some were physically pushed and then threatened with death”. “We feel in danger”he warned, referring to the intimidation to which Aymeric Caron, Thomas Portes and Louis Boyard would be subject. “I ask that we consider the level of violence that has been reached against us and that is relayed by officials”he insisted.

To his supporters, the former deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône finally asks “not to participate in any way in this atmosphere”. And ensures, against all odds, that “the Insoumis deputies keep moderation in everything they say” concerning the war raging between the Jewish state, Hamas and Hezbollah. And to add: “We must play a role, which consists, while maintaining the firmness of our positions, in not participating in or giving rise to the escalation that our adversaries would like to provoke to the detriment of our country.”
