Creation of Israel: Macron throws a tantrum against his ministers and journalists

A few days ago, Emmanuel Macron declared that “Mr Netanyahu must not forget that his country, Israel, was created by a UN decision”. This sentence, which he said during a Council of Ministers, provoked a number of stunned reactions, including from the Israeli government.

The French president, clearly angry, returned to this incident last night, after the European Council. All in restrained anger and under pressure, Emmanuel Macron blurted out: “It is up to each of the participants in the Council of Ministers not to circulate false, truncated or taken out of context information.”

Then, lecturing the media: “It is up to journalists and commentators to treat rumors and reported comments with the necessary precautions. These rules apply to ministers, journalists, commentators.”

“I must tell you how amazed I was to read so many comments, reactions including from foreign or French political leaders to comments that I would have made without asking the question of knowing what exactly I would have said . I think I say enough about the situation in the Middle East not to need ventriloquists,” continued Emmanuel Macron.

And to conclude: “It is proof of the disintegration of the public debate and a lack of professionalism of the ministers who repeated distorted remarks, of the journalists who took them up and of the commentators who did not focus on reality and to the veracity of such remarks.”

It should be noted in passing that the French president does not say at any time that he did not utter the famous sentence. He just seems furious that it was leaked.
