“I demand the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen”: Less than a month before the presidential election, Donald Trump delivers a violent anti-immigration speech

The Republican candidate for the November presidential election has significantly toughened his speech on immigration.

Donald Trump presented migrants as dangerous criminals this Friday during a rally in Aurora, Colorado, and called for migrants who kill American citizens to face the death penalty.

The Republican candidate for the November presidential election has significantly toughened his anti-immigration speech in recent weeks.

Illegal immigration is one of voters’ top concerns, and Donald Trump is seen by most as the person best placed to tackle the problem, according to opinion polls.

“I call for the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer,” Donald Trump said to the cheers of his supporters.

Donald Trump has already proposed extending the death penalty to certain cases, notably to people convicted of sex trafficking of women and children.

Congressional vote

The death penalty is banned in almost half of American states. Although it exists at the federal level, it is rarely enforced, according to the Death Penalty Information Center, a nonprofit organization.

Expanding the death penalty to other crimes would require passage of legislation by the U.S. Congress.

“You cannot enter a hospital, by the way. Because migrants occupy all the beds. You cannot enter a hospital. You cannot enroll your children in a school because there are migrants who don’t even speak the language… they have priority over your children,” Donald Trump also assured. “They’re going to take your house… They’re going to take over your house.”

Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Donald Trump’s death penalty proposal.

Kamala Harris expressed her intention in August to push for a new border control law intended to restrict the flow of migrants arriving in the southern United States and promised to enforce laws against illegal crossings .
