At the time of impact, the CNN news channel journalist was on the waterfront in Bradenton, north of Sarasota.

“We’ll probably go home soon,” he said after being hit in the face, before continuing his coverage.

Not the only one on the ground

Anderson Cooper is not the only journalist in the field to have experienced a little scare on Wednesday.

On the streets of Sarasota, NBC News reporter Tom Llamas saw a flash of light after a strong squall.

“It’s time to go,” he said, ending his speech on TV. He and his team then took refuge inside.

On X, Tom Llamas subsequently explained that a transformer very close to him had exploded. He then mentioned that it was proof that in this kind of situation, you can quickly go from absolute calm to chaos.
