These insults are the favorite of motorists, according to a study

When driving, sometimes words exceed our thoughts. According to a study carried out by Macif and the Jean-Jaurès Foundation, 67% of users admit to having already insulted another driver. The most virulent are motorcyclists and scooter riders (79%), followed closely by motorists (74%). Fear of a collision is the main motivation (66%), far ahead of daily stress (29%) or the urgency of a race against time (28%).

Insults mainly arise when the road is blocked (42%), a vehicle follows too closely (34%), or a driver fails to use their turn signal (34%). More than half of French people (51%) admit to having already insulted someone while driving, thus confirming that the car is a breeding ground for verbal outbursts.

At the top of the most common insults while driving, “Asshole” wins the prize with 48% of users, closely followed by “Asshole”, used by 43% of drivers. Other insults such as “Jester”, “Bastard/Bitch”, “Son of a bitch”, “Bastard”, “Tocard”, “Whore” or even “Faggot” also appear in the list, although the latter is used by only 4% of French people. Furthermore, 19% of those surveyed prefer to keep their insults to themselves. Note that almost half of drivers (48%) admit to feeling better after letting out an insult, even if 82% recognize that this does not solve anything and 75% believe that these outbursts of anger are not necessary.
