expresses its “indignation” after Israeli strikes on schools in Gaza

While Israeli strikes continue this Friday in Lebanon, expressed Friday “its indignation following the Israeli strikes which targeted three schools in Gaza over the past week”, which left around forty dead according to Defense civilian life in Gaza.

“For several weeks, schools, where populations find refuge, have been repeatedly targeted by the Israeli army,” deplores a press release from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The number of civilian victims of these attacks is intolerable. France recalls that the imperative of respect for international humanitarian law is binding on Israel.”

Civil Defense announced Thursday the death of 15 people in an Israeli strike on a school in the Jabalia camp housing displaced people, in the north of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army assured that it had targeted a command center of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

The same source reported on Sunday other strikes on schools which left seven dead on Sunday and 21 last Saturday.

Almost all of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have been displaced within the besieged Palestinian territory and many schools accommodate civilian populations.

“Faced with the absolute emergency in Gaza, France reiterates its call for the unconditional and undelayed release of all the hostages and for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, which must allow the massive and unhindered delivery of the “humanitarian aid,” insisted the press release.
