Charleroi and the Circle of Bruges left on a score of 1-1 Saturday evening, but after the match, only one subject was discussed: the elbow of Daan Heymans on Christiaan Ravych. Charleroi’s midfielder came out with a simple yellow card, but Ravych was much less likely.
The defender of the circle suffered from a bloody nose and a black eye, and it was clear that he could not continue. He left the field by pronouncing a few insulting words against Heymans and was transported to the hospital before the final whistle.
Fracture of the nose and orbit for Ravych
Significant damage was quickly noted. Het Laatste Nieuws reports that Ravych suffers from a fracture of the nose and orbit. He therefore risks being dismissed from the field for a while, because this last injury is particularly dangerous.
“In the locker room, everyone was in shock, especially the boys who had seen the state in which Christiaan had been evacuated,” reacted Ferdinand Feldhofer.
-“We have since given the images of the phase, I do not understand at all that a red card has not been released for such an intervention.”
Heymans should have received a red card
After the match, Heymans denied having deliberately gave an elbow. But not everyone seems to believe in this explanation. Former referee Tim Pots has already indicated in HLN that a red card would have been more than justified.
“His head was well targeted,” said pots. “We see him because his two arms go backwards in perfect synchronization, then upwards. But then he takes his left arm out while the right arm makes a normal movement. For me, this nugget deserves a red card ”.
