The American president announced that his administration would appeal the decision of a judge to suspend his presidential decree which aimed to end the law of the soil in the United States.

An American judge temporarily suspended this Thursday, January 23, the questioning of the soil law ordered by the new President Donald Trump, emblematic measure of his anti-immigration offensive on Thursday 23.

It is a manifestly unconstitutional order, “said the federal magistrate John Coughenour, quoted by local media during a hearing in Seattle. Joined by phone, a court clerk confirmed the suspension to AFP.

Law protected by the 14th amendment

In the wake of his inauguration on Monday, Donald Trump signed a decree returning to soil law, a founding principle devoted by the 14th amendment to the American Constitution and applied for more than 150 years in the United States.

This measure was immediately challenged by 22 American states, including California and New York, which pointed to its unconstitutionality.

“I have been a judge for more than forty years and I do not remember another case in which the question asked is as clear as it is,” added Judge Coughenour, by suspending the decree.

“Obviously, we will call on,” said Donald Trump for the press from the White House office.

The decree was to prohibit the federal government from issuing passports, citizenship certificates or other documents to children whose mother illegally or temporarily stays in the United States, and whose father is not an American citizen or permanent resident – holder of the famous green card.
