FRANÇOIS-XAVIER BELLAMY.- For European leaders, the return of Donald Trump to the White House must be an opportunity to finally emerge from their torpor and lucidly look at their responsibilities. For several mandates, the United States has prioritized its interests over its alliances; with President Trump, this trend will be completely uninhibited. This must lead Europeans to understand that if they do not care about the destiny of their countries, no one will do it for them. This is the lesson that seems urgent to me to draw from the current geopolitical context.
