A man and a woman have died in the state of Brandenburg, in eastern Germany, from stabbings. Two other people, also a man and a woman, were seriously injured, according to police. The alleged perpetrator of the attack was apprehended during a large-scale search operation, said a spokesperson for the police.

The events took place in a village called Casekow, located not far from the Polish border. The exact circumstances remain unclear. The police speak of an act of “violence with a sharp object”. The police, alerted by a call for help around 10:00 a.m., found a deceased man and woman in an apartment.
