Diamniadio, January 12 (APS) – Jaraaf of Dakar beat (1-0) ASEC of Abidjan in a match counting for the 5th day of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup, at the Maitre Abdoulaye Wade stadium by Diamniadio.
The meeting started with rhythm and intensity. The Jaraaf of Dakar is gaining ascendancy in the game, with a good Abdoulaye Faty.
Very twirling, the Jaraaf attacker gives the ASEC Mimosas defense a hard time.
However, the domination of the Medina team did not give the expected results until the 26th minute when it found the fault. From a well-placed corner, Abdoulaye Oualy heads the ball into the back of the net.
He thus opened the scoring to the great dismay of the few spectators present because the match took place without an audience, because of the sanction of playing two matches behind closed doors, imposed on Jaraaf.
After the opening score by the representative of Senegal in the CAF Cup, the match decreased in intensity.
The score does not change until half-time.
On the way back, in the second half, the Ivorians come back with better arguments. They dominate, without creating chances.
Jaraaf coach Malick Daff reacted by densifying his environment.
The numerous changes by the two teams did not allow the score to change until the end.
With this second success in a row, Jaraaf takes a big step towards qualifying for the quarter-finals, taking second place in Group C with 8 points.
In this group C, USM Alger ensured its qualification, beating (2-1) Opara United of Botswana.
Guaranteed to finish in the first two places, the Algerians will quietly host Jaraaf in the last group match.
