A chilling scene. THE Palais Royal de Stockholm was the scene of a tragedy on the morning of Saturday January 11. As reported by the local press, a garde royal is impaled in the head with his own bayonet.

Emergency called, paramedics found “the bayonet stuck in the soldier’s head and his life was in jeopardy”, we read in comments reported by the specialized site Royal Stories this Sunday, January 12. Also according to local information, the victim slipped during a patrol due to the thick coat of snow which covers the Swedish capital. Despite this enormous fright, the guard, who suffered a surgeryis in a stable condition and his vital state is clearly no longer in danger. King Carl XV Gustaf and Queen Sofia of Sweden were made aware of the situation and an investigation was opened.
