At the initiative of the Collective for the Defense of the Military (CDM), a demonstration took place yesterday Friday in front of the Algiers embassy in Bamako, to denounce the “wild” interference of the Algerian junta in the internal affairs of the Mali. This demonstration took place in the presence of the collective’s secretary general, Younouss Soumaré, and his close collaborators, reports our colleague Maliweb.

“Around 2 p.m., there were dozens of activists meeting in front of the Algerian embassy in Bamako located in Daoudabougou. Their slogan was: “Algeria aya daboila” in French “go on your way”. Two vehicles, equipped with generators, carrying speakers, operate the mobilization sites. At the edge of the tarmac, road users and curious people were getting closer and closer to see what was happening.

Some demonstrators brandished signs holding slogans hostile to Algeria such as: “Algeria complicit with terrorists”, “Stop interference”, “Algeria rear base of the Ukrainians”. Other demonstrators show a poster reading “No to the destabilization of the AES.”

In her address to the President of the Republic of Algeria, the Secretary General of the Confederation of Peoples of the Alliance of Sahel States (CP/AES) expressed her serious concerns regarding the obvious interference of certain Algerian officials in the affairs interior of Mali. Aïssata Maïga asked those concerned to demonstrate reserve and responsibility, taking into account the common history of our two countries, built on the values of independence and the fight for the dignity of African peoples.

She invited the Algerian President to take the necessary measures to ensure that this interference ceases immediately, in order to preserve the historic relations between our two nations and to avoid any irreversible deterioration of our fraternal ties.

In a final declaration read by the secretary general of the CDM, they asked every Malian citizen and even the Confederation of Sahel States to stop this wild interference. Younouss Soumaré recalled that the AES is today standing up to secure its territories. “This is why we ask the Algerian authorities to redirect those concerned so that such provocations are never repeated again,” he requested.

According to the first head of the collective, our country has no lessons to learn from anyone, let alone individuals with hidden agendas. This is to say that it is time, if not high time, for the Algerian authorities to call on their historians to re-establish the true history linking the two countries. “While Mali was a rear base for the Algerians during the war of liberation, this same country unfortunately becomes a land of asylum, a rear base for terrorists and their allies,” denounced the demonstrators.
