Swastikas were sprayed on the grounds of a Sydney synagogue and anti-Semitic graffiti was found on a home, Australian police said on Saturday, after similar incidents the day before.

The tags were traced during the night, this source said in a press release. Photos broadcast by local media show signs painted in red on the surrounding wall of the synagogue, located in the Newtown district, according to the Australian press.

Another synagogue in the city was defaced and covered with swastikas during the night from Thursday to Friday, according to police.

“We will always denounce these acts”

“These people are determined to divide our community,” blasted Chris Minns, the Prime Minister of the state of New South Wales (southeast), where Sydney is located.

“We will always denounce these acts for what they are: monstrous and appalling,” he said.

At the beginning of December, masked individuals set fire to the Adass Israel synagogue, in the suburbs of Melbourne (south-east), causing significant damage to the building. Authorities described the fire as “terrorist” and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the creation of a police unit tasked with combating anti-Semitism.
