The house of actor Tom Hanks, perched on top of a hill in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, was miraculously spared from the flames.
According to what we can see from the photos of the luxurious residence, taken Thursday and published on the site Page Six, the violent fire which ravaged the upscale district of Los Angeles did not reach the actor’s home of Forrest Gump. A small miracle in that most of the neighboring houses were entirely or partially destroyed by the flames.

Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, purchased the US$26 million home in 2010. Their son, Chet, posted a message on Instagram on Wednesday to express his pain at seeing the neighborhood where he grew up be razed by the flames.
Located in the same neighborhood, the house of filmmaker Steven Spielberg was also spared from the flames, according to the TMZ website. Good friends in life, Hanks and Spielberg worked together on five films, including the war drama We must save Private Ryan.
Several Hollywood stars lost their homes in the Los Angeles fires, including Billy Crystal, Paris Hilton, Adam Brody, Mel Gibson, James Wood and Jennifer Grey.
