Light drone aerial shows are becoming more and more fashionable and are competing with fireworks during popular celebrations. But a very small malfunction can cause a tragedy. This is what happened in Orlando (United States), on the shores of Lake Eola, on December 21.
As 25,000 people watched a Christmas drone show in the night sky, several machines collided and flew in all directions, some falling into the crowd, reports ABC News. A little boy was even violently hit in the chest by one of the drones.

An investigation launched by the FAA
Videos shared on social media show the approximately 200 drones forming a red and green Christmas decor before some of the machines begin to veer off course, colliding and charging into the crowd. On a video, we see a drone crashing among the spectators at full speed.

The little victim, aged 7 according to several sources, was treated by emergency services and transported to hospital. The Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident and opened an investigation in partnership with the Texas company that organized the show.
The municipality had planned two free drone shows for Christmas. After the incident, the second show was canceled, with the city simply announcing “technical difficulties.” The show, lasting 15 minutes, was to be a “dazzling display of synchronized drones flying in formation to create beautiful holiday-themed designs.”
