The return of some well-known personalities: here is the French government of François Bayrou

François Bayrou's government was unveiled this Monday evening. There we find well-known figures in French politics.

Two former Prime Ministers, Elisabeth Borne and Manuel Valls, were appointed Ministers of State in the government of François Bayrou, respectively in charge of National Education and Overseas Territories.

Ms. Borne, who left Matignon in January, will have National Education, Higher Education and Research in her portfolio. Manuel Valls, absent from any government function since his departure from Matignon in December 2016, inherits a very large portfolio where he will notably have to manage the situation in Mayotte and New Caledonia.

Bruno Retailleau (Interior), Jean-Noël Barrot (Europe and foreign affairs), Sébastien Lecornu (Armies) and Rachida Dati (Culture) are reappointed to the positions they already occupied in the previous government of Michel Barnier.

François Bayrou was appointed Prime Minister by Emmanuel Macron on December 13. His predecessor at Matignon, Michel Barnier, was overthrown on December 4 by the National Assembly in a censorship unprecedented since 1962.
