“We have not detected anything unusual and do not believe that the activity to date presents a risk to national security or public safety in the airspace of New Jersey and other northern states. is,” said the federal police, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and the FAA (American aviation regulator) in a joint statement.
“After carefully reviewing the technical data and information provided by concerned citizens, we believe that the sightings made to date include a combination of legal commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as as gliders, helicopters and stars mistakenly identified as drones,” we can read in the press release.
These drones, seen for several weeks in the northeast of the country, have sparked concern among residents about possible foreign involvement and given rise to accusations of supposed cover-up by the American government.
Senior U.S. officials have brushed off any suggestion of foreign involvement, including claims that the drones were launched from Iranian or Chinese vessels.
