A murder investigation was opened after the discovery on Sunday of the body of a young woman near a beach in Guadeloupe, in Gosier, the public prosecutor in Pointe-à-Pitre announced on Tuesday. In a press release, prosecutor Caroline Calbo indicated that a 26-year-old woman had been discovered “around 4:00 p.m. […] by a surfer and that his death was noted at 4:20 p.m. by the Samu.
The victim was quickly identified by her roommates who were present with her at the beach on Sunday, the press release said. The parquet evokes “marks present on his body”which led to the opening of a murder investigation. According to the same source, the autopsy carried out on Monday revealed that the cause of death was “multifactorial” and the body “did not present any signs suggestive of sexual assault”.
According to a source close to the investigation, the young woman had moved away from her group and headed into the undergrowth to make a phone call. His body, found in the water, showed signs of strangulation and a head wound, according to the same source.
