French legislative elections: RN in the lead, Gabriel Attal calls on his camp to block the second round by withdrawing if necessary

Gabriel Attal qualified, several ministers in triangulars

Prime Minister Gabriel Attal came out on top in the first round of legislative elections in Hauts-de-Seine, west of Paris, as did several of his ministers, many of whom will be taking part in three-way races.

The outgoing president of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet came out on top with 42.90% of the vote in the 5th constituency of Yvelines, ahead of the NFP candidate Yassine Benyettou (27.32%) and the LR-RN candidate Jacques Myard (22.90%).

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin came out on top in the 10th constituency of the North ahead of the RN with 36.03% of the vote. Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné came out on top more comfortably in the 9th constituency of Hauts-de-Seine, with 46.07% of the vote ahead of NFP environmentalist Pauline Rapilly-Ferniot (21.39%). Minister of Agriculture Marc Fesneau, candidate in Loir-et-Cher, came second with 34.56% of the vote, behind RN candidate Marine Bardet (35.22%).

Civil Service Minister Stanislas Guerini is in an unfavourable position in the 3rd constituency of Paris, ten points behind his environmentalist opponent Léa Balage El Mariky, who obtained 45.6% of the vote, against 34.42% for the minister, according to partial results based on 96% of the ballots counted.

The Minister Delegate for Europe, Jean-Noël Barrot, came out on top on Sunday in the 2nd constituency of Yvelines, with 34.69% of the vote ahead of the NFP candidate (25.98%), according to partial results based on 93% of the ballots counted.

Olivia Grégoire (Business) is on a favorable ballot in the 12th district of Paris. Credited with 39.36% of the vote, she is ten points ahead of her left-wing opponent, the communist Céline Malisé (28.96%).

Roland Lescure (Industry) announced on X that he had come out on top with 39% of the votes in the 1st constituency of French people abroad (North America). Aurore Bergé (Equality) also came out on top in Yvelines with 33.59% of the votes ahead of an RN candidate (28.22%) and an NFP candidate (22.40%).

Two ministers step down

Several ministers will participate, unless they withdraw, in three-way races, such as Agnès Pannier-Runacher (delegate for Agriculture) in Pas-de-Calais, where she obtained 21.54% of the vote behind an RN candidate (37.31%) and ahead of an environmentalist candidate from the NFP (20.12%). Frédéric Valletoux (Health) came second, with 33.83% of the vote, in Seine-et-Marne, behind an RN candidate and an NFP candidate.

Fadila Khattabi (Disabled People), is in an unfavorable vote in Côte d’Or, where she came in third position (23.81%) behind an NFP candidate who was himself beaten by an RN candidate. Sarah El Haïry (Childhood) is qualified (36.17%) in Loire-Atlantique, behind an NFP candidate and an RN. Triangular also for Franck Riester (Foreign trade) in Seine-et-Marne, where he comes in second position (31.43%) behind an RN (41.77%) and in front of an NFP candidate (24.52%).

Guillaume Kasbarian (Housing), is in difficulty in Eure-et-Loir, where he is neck and neck with the RN candidate Emma Minot who is ahead of him by less than 500 votes. Although qualified, the NFP candidate has announced that he is withdrawing.

Two outgoing ministers and deputies – Sabrina Agresti-Roubache and Marie Guévenoux – announced their withdrawal after coming third in their constituencies, respectively in Marseille and Essonne, clearly calling for a vote against the RN.
