A septuagenarian on vacation was almost arrested for refusing to pay for a tuna sandwich on a flight from London to Turkey on November 3, 2024.
She describes the sandwich as “tempera”, “cold” et “inedible”. A septuagenarian shared her mishap with a sandwich during a flight to The Sun Thursday November 14, 2024.
This passenger on a Jet2 flight from London to Turkey on November 3, 2024 was left stunned after almost being arrested for refusing to pay for a tuna sandwich ordered during the flight and deemed not to her taste.
When the plane landed in Bodrum, a city in southwest Turkey, four officers armed with rifles and batons stood near the plane to escort the 79-year-old grandmother, accompanied by her daughter, outside the device, described The New York Post.
“Stop for a sandwich”
“We had no idea what we had done. I was looking back at people and saying, 'I think I got arrested for a sandwich.'”she told the daily.
The airport police allegedly made him walk “kilometers” in the airport, adding to his confusion. When the septuagenarian tried to ask where they were going, the agents reportedly replied: “No speak English, no speak English” (no English, no English).
“Disruptive behavior”
When the agents finally realize that the tragedy was linked to an unpaid sandwich, “They told us to leave. They were obviously very embarrassed.”
“Our cabin crew reported that two customers engaged in disruptive and unpleasant behavior throughout the flight, including illicit consumption of alcohol purchased from duty free and brought on board,” wrote a Jet2 spokesperson in a statement to the newspaper The Post, sans comment on the sandwich “affair”.
