The scene takes place in El Sereno, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. A 93-year-old woman and her family have been hearing strange noises for weeks, according to reports from NBC News. “It was usually late at night, and we thought they were animals” testifies Ricardo Silva, son-in-law of the 93-year-old owner.
One evening the noises amplify and trigger the curiosity but above all the concern of the family. “We could hear banging from below the house, so she said, 'You know something's wrong,' explain Ricardo Silva.
“He refused to leave”
Called immediately, the Los Angeles police responded quickly and found the cause of the suspicious noises. A 27-year-old man was hiding, naked, in the crawl space of the house. And to dislodge him, the police had to work because the man resisted their intervention. “He refused to leave. He was not afraid of dogs and the first two gassing attempts failed to find him” explain Ricardo Silva.
The man had therefore been living for about six months, according to the family, in a crawl space about 60 centimeters high and extending under the entire house. “It's a weird thing, but it's probably not uncommon, you know. Nowadays, people are looking for shelter,” explains the victim’s son-in-law.
