This is the first time that authorities have given a number of missing people. The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencia region announced Tuesday evening, November 5, on the social network
This number was, however, established from reports from families who provided elements and biological samples allowing the identification of their loved ones, specified the superior court of justice of the Valencia region.
The Spanish government, for its part, remains cautious and does not provide a precise number of people missing. The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, simply mentioned a «important name» of missing, judging that in the absence of reliable information, it was “better not to specify”.
So far, 219 people have been reported dead. The courts have already authorized the surrender of “nearly 50 bodies” of the deceased to their families, the Valencia Superior Court of Justice had previously specified. Authorities continue to inspect underground parking lots, many of which have been completely flooded.
