The duration of the transition in Burkina Faso has been extended by 5 years from July 2, 2024, according to the conclusions of the National Conference held on Saturday in Ouagadougou, the Burkinabe capital.

Initially planned to last two days, the work of the National Conference ended on Saturday evening, with the main measure being the extension of the duration of the transition for 60 months from July 2, 2024, declared the president of the committee. organization Colonel Moussa Diallo at the close of the Assises.

In addition, according to the summary of the document delivered by Diallo, now the president of the Transition [le capitaine Ibrahim Traoré] has the title of ”President of Faso and Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces.”

The revised Transition Charter, resulting from the National Conference, was signed by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, to the acclamations of the participants.

The National Conference to decide on the follow-up to be given to the transition which normally ends on July 1, 2024, opened on Saturday, in Ouagadougou, the Burkinabe capital, in the absence of certain political parties particularly close to the ex-president Roch Marc Christian Kaboré and their allies.

These political parties justified their boycott by the suspension of the activities of political parties since September 30, 2022, the date of Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s takeover.
