Marius Gustavson, 46, published videos of genital mutilation on his paid site.

This Norwegian, who earned more than 350,000 euros and carried out no less than 30 acts on 13 men, was sentenced Thursday to life in prison for having been the mastermind of a group which carried out mutilations, including castrations, filmed and broadcast on a paid website.

In London, Marius Gustavson has just been sentenced this Thursday, May 9, to life in prison. This 46-year-old Norwegian was, for several years, the mastermind of a group of people carrying out mutilations which were filmed and broadcast on a paid website.

The latter was prosecuted for a series of offenses linked to “extreme body modifications” on 13 victims, but also on himself. These offenses also include the removal and commercialization of certain parts of the victims’ bodies and the posting of videos online. His conviction was accompanied by a security period of 22 years.

The website, which this Norwegian had created, had nearly 22,000 subscribers and earned him 300,000 pounds sterling (around 350,000 euros) between 2017 and 2021. On it, he broadcast the body modifications he carried out and claimed “the making of eunuchs”in reference to the movement “nullo”.

A Norwegian involved in at least 29 procedures

Some of the facts that occurred “almost human butchery”, said Judge Mark Lucraft, pronouncing the sentence. According to him, Marius Gustavson, who admitted the facts, was the mastermind of this enterprise “in large scale”having even on one occasion cooked “human testicles, which were put on a plate to be eaten”.

This man, originally from Norway, had cut his own penis. His genitals were found at his home by the police in a drawer, as well as a leg, which had been frozen with the help of an accomplice.

According to the prosecution, he was personally involved in at least 29 mutilation procedures on himself or other people. Already convicted twice for fraud in Norway, he had also put several amputated limbs up for sale on the internet.

An “addiction” after a romantic disappointment

“Even if the victims in this case all seem to have consented to these operations and amputations (…) Marius Gustavson ignored the risks by carrying out these unnecessary operations on vulnerable men,” noted Kate Mulholland of the prosecutor’s office.

During the trial, the Norwegian’s lawyer, Rashvinderjeet Panesar, claimed that his client was driven by the need to be “the architect of his own body”after the breakdown of his marriage in 2016. “When (this marriage) broke up, it sent him into a spiral” and the mutilations became like “an addiction”he added.

According to him, his client, who suffers from a bodily identity integrity disorder pushing him to mutilate himself, would like to return to Norway where he believes he would be better accepted.
