Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of the World Health Organization, announced on Wednesday that the Abu Youssef al-Najjar hospital in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah is no longer able to provide services, after Israel launched a ground attack.

This is what emerges from a post published on his account on the in its surroundings and the Israeli military operation in Rafah.

”The closure of the border post hampers the activities of the United Nations and paralyzes the delivery of fuel. Without fuel, all humanitarian operations will be interrupted,” he regretted.

He added, “Hospitals in the southern Gaza Strip have only three days of fuel left, meaning services could soon stop functioning.”

”At a time when humanitarian operations, already fragile, must intensify, the military operation in Rafah further limits our ability to reach thousands of people living in disastrous conditions, without food, without sanitation facilities, without health services and without adequate security,” warned the head of the WHO.

Ghebreyesus called for an immediate end to what is happening in Gaza.

The Israeli army launched a military operation of ‘limited scale’ on Tuesday morning, taking operational control of the border crossing with Egypt on the Palestinian side, and closing the two main access points to aid. humanitarian.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has led a deadly offensive against Gaza which has left around 113,000 dead and injured, most of whom are women and children, in addition to 10,000 missing, against a backdrop of massive destruction and famine which has has already cost the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war despite the adoption of a UN Security Council resolution stipulating an immediate ceasefire and despite the appearance of the Jewish state before the International Court of Justice, which demanded to take immediate measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
