Negligence: 5-month-old baby dies in Legoland amusement park

A 27-year-old mother was reportedly arrested for negligence after her 5-month-old baby died on Sunday following a cardiac arrest in the heart of the Legoland amusement park in Windsor, England.

“We have made one arrest in connection with this incident and are not seeking anyone else as a suspect. I would ask the public to avoid any speculation about the incident and to respect the boy’s family at this deeply distressing time,” said Detective Zoe Eele of Thames Valley Police on Tuesday, according to the BBC.

Last Thursday, the police were called to the scene of the amusement park dedicated to plastic Legos toys for a baby in cardiac arrest in the line for a ride involving small boats driven on a narrow course, reported several British media.

For around twenty minutes, paramedics nearby on the site did everything to resuscitate the baby before being transported to a hospital center, where he died after a few days.

His mother, from Essex, was suspected of child neglect causing unnecessary injury, according to the BBC. It is, however, unclear what her role in the incident would have been.

At present, local police are reportedly still trying to shed light on the circumstances, as they reportedly called witnesses to the scene who were queuing for the boat ride between 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, to contact her.

The suspect, whose identity has not been specified, is expected to appear in court on July 26, Thames Valley Police said.
