France strongly condemns the bombing of displaced persons camps near the city of Goma on May 3, which caused numerous civilian deaths, including children, as well as numerous injuries.

France expresses its solidarity with the victims and their families. She calls for shedding light on responsibilities for this attack, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. France denounces the escalation of violence against civilians in North Kivu and condemns any attack against civilians, as well as the use of heavy weapons near displaced persons camps.

As the President of the Republic recalled during the visit of Mr. Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Paris on April 30, France strongly condemns the M23 offensive and calls on Rwanda to withdraw its forces from the DRC. It provides its full support to regional processes to find a negotiated solution to this crisis, in all its components, including for the demobilization of the FDLR.
