“One of the ways to become a celebrity”: 13-year-old English girl stabs two teachers

A 13-year-old girl from Wales accused of stabbing two teachers and a student last April allegedly boasted to investigators that she was on the verge of becoming a celebrity thanks to her violent crime.

“I’m pretty sure it’s going to make headlines. So more eyes will be on me. “It’s one of the ways to become a celebrity,” the young accused would have told investigators after her arrest, prosecutor William Hughes told the court on Monday, according to “The Independent.”

At the start of the trial of the teenager, whose identity is being protected due to her young age, Swansea Crown Court was shown footage of the stabbing attack at the secondary school Amman Valley in April.

That day, the young girl allegedly confronted deputy principal Fiona Elias by threatening to kill her in the school playground before attacking her with a multifunction knife that her father used for fishing, according to the British media.

That’s when his colleague, teacher Liz Hopkin, allegedly intervened, suffering more serious injuries to her back, neck, legs and arms, forcing her to be airlifted for emergency treatment.

If other employees would have tried to arrest the accused, she would have managed to move away from their grasp and then violently attack another teenager, repeating her threats out loud, before being disarmed, according to “The Independent.”

The two teachers and the teenager had to be taken to hospital to treat stab wounds.

During her arrest, the suspect made disturbing remarks to investigators, limiting herself to describing the attack on her classmate by saying “I stabbed her, oops,” the prosecutor reportedly continued.

The accused is said to have pleaded guilty to three counts of wounding with intent and one count of possessing a sharp article on school premises, but denied all three counts of attempted murder.

However, according to the investigation, the young accused had drawings from her classmate in which she represented the young victim with the words “burn” and “cut her mouth and eyes”, according to “The Independent”. She had also caricatured Fiona Elias in her notebooks.

«[Elle] does not deny causing these injuries. She disputes [que c’était dans] intending to kill one, two or all three. [La jeune fille] clearly had a low opinion of Mrs. Elias and [de l’adolescente blessée] given the content of the drawings and the associated words,” Mr. Hughes noted in court.

The trial is scheduled to continue Wednesday.
