Context

As part of the support to member countries of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) for the implementation and monitoring-evaluation of the SDG4-Education 2030 Agenda and the Continental Strategy for Education for Africa (CESA, 2016-2025), the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for Central Africa has established a regional program to support educational policies and strategic education planning. This program covers, among other things, the production of education sector statistics and the improvement of data quality through the establishment, strengthening, modernization and sustainability of Information Systems for Education Management. Education (EMIS).

As part of UNESCO’s overall strategy and in accordance with the decisions of its governing bodies, the Regional Office supports the ministries responsible for education and training with a view to contributing to the efforts of the Governments of the countries of the region. Central Africa for the monitoring/evaluation of the objectives of the different sectoral education and training strategies, the targets of SDG4 by 2030 and the CESA 2016-2025.

To this end, several initiatives are underway in the countries of Central Africa for the strengthening and modernization of the EMIS and the school map through the establishment of integrated national platforms for the management of school and university data, the production sectoral directories and the development of georeferenced school maps based on the StatEduc IT platform of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS).

In order to strengthen its team in the Education sector to provide appropriate technical support to countries within the timeframe required for regular and sustainable statistical production, the Regional Office plans to recruit an EMIS consultant to support the implementation of the various projects, EMIS and school map programs in Central African countries.
