“Silent” disease, types of cancer detected very early can be cured in a few days of treatment in certain hospital structures in Gran Canaria. Professor Pédro Lara, head of the Oncology department at San Roque Hospital in Las Palmas, made the revelation during the visit of the Senegalese mission, made up of journalists and doctors: “cancer can be cured in 5 days of treatment” . As for the types of cancers concerned, Dr Lara cites breast cancer and prostate cancer which are treated with high-tech machines, adapted and which precisely treat the tumor in any part of the body. . The oncologist affirms that unlike the side effects we see, with this high technology, the toxicity is less.
Regarding the eligibility of patients, Professor Lara emphasizes that they are sorted into three (3) groups: patients in the early phase (whose illness is diagnosed early), in the intermediate phase and those in the terminal phase. The cure rate would be 100% for all types of cancer except lung and pancreatic cancer, for which the cure rate varies between 50 and 65%.
At the San Roque Hospital in Las Palmas, oncology hyperthermia is also used to treat cancer. Hyperthermia consists of heating the tissues of the tumor (cancerous) area to 41 to 44°C. It is a treatment that is often used for patients who are at an advanced stage. In West Africa, the Mauritanian State often directs its patients to this health structure for the treatment of Cancer, Pr. Pedro Lara. The latter reveals that he has often worked with Senegalese professors of medicine.
Causing nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or almost one in six deaths, cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide.
It most often develops from the cells of the bronchi. A “silent” cancer like liver or pancreatic cancer, lung cancer is generally discovered late. More than one in two lung cancers are diagnosed when metastases already exist. It is therefore difficult to treat.
