Grand Duchess Maria Teresa pairs faux leather and sequins to bid farewell to German-speaking heads of state

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg accompanied her husband, Grand Duke Henri, on this second day of the 20th annual informal meeting of the heads of state of the German-speaking countries. The Luxembourg sovereigns had invited their foreign guests to an information session at the University of Luxembourg. For this last visit of the German-speaking heads of state, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa had put Belgium in the spotlight with a pale blue ensemble by Natan, combining faux leather and sequins.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa honours Natan on final day of informal meeting of German-speaking heads of state

The 20th annual informal meeting of the heads of state of the German-speaking countries continued on Tuesday, September 17, at the Maison des Sciences humaines of the University of Luxembourg. This year, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg are organizing this meeting between heads of state of countries where German is an official language. Only the Austrian President is absent due to legislative elections that keep him in his country.

The President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Ahmed, accepted the invitation of the Luxembourg sovereigns, as did the German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who made the trip with his wife, Elke Büdenbender. King Philippe of Belgium was accompanied by Queen Mathilde. As for Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, who has represented his father, the sovereign Hans-Adam II, since 2004, was accompanied by his wife Sophie.

A faux leather jacket and a sequin skirt

The meeting took place on 16 and 17 September. On Tuesday, the second day of the summit, the Luxembourg sovereigns invited their guests to debate with experts on the topic of disinformation. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa chose to highlight Belgian fashion, another guest country at the meeting, as German is one of the three official languages ​​of the Kingdom of Belgium.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is a good customer of the Natan house, run by Baron Edouard Vermeulen. Over the years, Edouard Vermeulen has become Queen Mathilde’s personal couturier. Mathilde has remained loyal to the couturier who made her wedding dress in 1999. Since then, Edouard Vermeulen and Natan have dressed other Benelux sovereigns. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands frequently wear Natan outfits.

On Tuesday, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore a daring outfit, combining a leather top and a sequined skirt. The pale blue faux leather jacket is sold for 695 euros. Queen Mathilde, for her part, wore a long coat with embroidered patterns by Esmeralda Ammoun.
