Gusts of more than 100 km/h shook the ski resort of Cervinia in Italy. A chairlift that was about to close was shaken very badly. Skiers were still on the seats. The video is spectacular.

Big scare for skiers. In Cervinia, in the Italian Alps, strong gusts of wind suddenly invaded the ski area on Thursday afternoon with winds of 100 km/h. Officials were about to close the ski lifts but did not have time to disembark all the passengers in time.

The seats of the Cretaz chairlift began to swing strongly and violently once to the left, once to the right, still firmly clinging to the cable which connects the bottom to the top of the ski lift. We can imagine the fear that the last passengers still present must have felt.

“During the line unloading phase – which took place safely and according to procedures – a new increase in wind was recorded,” explains the ski resort, in comments reported by the Italian media Aostasera.

In a few minutes, the wind increased from 20-30 km/h to gusts of 110 km/h, specifies Meteo Valle d’Aosta.

The last passengers were finally able to disembark without injury at the top of the chairlift but history does not tell how they got back down to the bottom of the area and how long it took to return to the station.
