: with the victory at the Arena against , the engine is finally running

15-25, 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 15-12 and success 3 sets to 2 against at home: holds its first victory of the season and thus its first two points. Successful audition, validated casting, the Centurions season is launched.

Stanley Kubrick is a beloved director with a very large fan base. However, it turns out that the American filmmaker who died at the twilight of the 20th century also generated a host of detractors. Those who criticize him for advancing armed with clogs that are far too bulky, for putting music tinged with anguish as a prologue to The Shining, before we even know that it is a horror film, for modeling a Jack Nicholson as a psychopath long before we understood that he would end up trying to murder his wife and child… In short, having said too much and shown too much before the start of the plot.

Funny Games ?

It was the same last night at the Arena. We believed! The Demiurge had delivered his script and its outcome to the eyes of the world. We believed! From the start of the match, we understood in any case that there was a big problem in Narbonne. Almost nothing was going well. The brilliant screenwriter-host Yoan Crouzillat tried hard, but the spectators, brought back to reality by the Centurions’ pitiful performance, had their heads in the bag of chips. Like at the cinema. And they understood from the first exchanges of the meeting that the film was looking rather dark. Funny Games? It’s debatable Michael. The new sharp Casey Schouten was not invited and almost no Narbonnais stood out in this first set: 15-25, 1-0 for Toulouse. Absolutely, it sucked. Absolutely.

Until then. Because at the start of the second set, exit Kubrick. Welcome Tarantino, his surface fantasy, his realism, his truth. Narbonne was reborn from its ashes, carried by a decidedly unalterable Zanotti. Schouten finally emerged from the confines of apathy and Liam Patte, as he entered the court, dynamited the opponent: 25-23, a set everywhere. Toss the chips.

Fol amour

The third round? Apocalypse Now in Toulouse. 2001, the Space Odyssey in Narbonne. An unwavering Schouten, after digesting his tenure, quickly proved essential to the Narbonne game. Patte, always him, was investigating the points. As for Dijoud, his contribution proved fundamental to the Centurions. The matt and gaseous layer which had sketched the entry on stage of the Audois this Saturday evening at the Arena dissipated from the screen to finally let the light pierce the film: 25-20 in favor of the Audois and 2-1 in the scenario . A mad love took over the Arena.

Was Narbonne finally advancing on the Paths of Glory? That’s it, yes, Thérèse. Well no. In the fourth round, the Toulouse Spacers regained control, the Centurions sank, yet Schouten, Zanotti, Patte and Wiltenburg continued to respond. Alas… 18-25, 2 sets to 2.

But what had started very badly was going to end perfectly. On a happy ending: 15-12, 3 sets to 2. Narbonne held its first victory of the season. Not a Palme d’Or or a César, two points all the same. Perhaps the start of a successful series.
