Last May, MEP François-Xavier Bellamy posted a video on TikTok of an altercation with a demonstrator in front of the IEP Paris, against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The person concerned has just lost the summary judgment in which he requested the deletion of the video in the name of his image rights.
On May 7, 2024, the European deputy François-Xavier Bellamy, candidate for re-election on the LR list, went to the IEP Paris which has been the subject for several weeks of regular mobilizations, blockages and tensions linked to the Israeli conflict -Palestinian. For the LR candidate, it is a political exploitation of student life and he comes to denounce it.
His trip that day attracted the attention of the media and social networks because of his altercation with LFI deputy Louis Boyard.
But he was also challenged by a former IEP Paris student in these terms: “You want to piss off the students and then you want to leave? “. The person concerned then continues to insult him, denouncing a “recovery” operation and speaking of “shame”. FX Bellamy released the video of the altercation (27 seconds) on TikTok on May 10. The demonstrator did not appreciate it and ordered the MP, by registered letter dated July 22, to remove the video. Having failed in his case, he decided to sue FX Bellamy to obtain respect for his image rights. Let us point out that the events took place on the public highway, in the presence of a large number of people and in particular journalists who were filming and recording. Furthermore, the video was broadcast by the MP in its raw state, without the slightest editing or distortion, his lawyer Mr. Henri de Beauregard argued in defense.
In an order issued on January 10, the summary judge of the Paris Judicial Court rejected his request for the following reasons:

The applicant can still appeal the order, but also refer the matter to the court.
