It was in Bagnères-de-Luchon on December 20 that the Haute-Garonne Departmental Energy Union (SDEHG) closed its 2024 territorial meeting session. In total, 16 local meetings were organized during the last quarter to meet the Mayors and delegates of the different Haut-Garonnais territories.

Accompanied by Max Cazarré and Marc Lasserre, Vice-Presidents, and the technical teams, the President of the SDEHG Thierry Suaud, presented a bilan du program LED++ which aims to renovate the entire public lighting fleet of the SDEHG municipalities with LEDs.

This program is very successful with municipalities and makes it possible to considerably accelerate the pace of public lighting renovations.

The SDEHG is now a pioneer in the deployment of LED technology for public lighting with a record 53% of lighting fixtures equipped with LEDS in its territory made up of 585 municipalities (all communes of Haute-Garonne, except ). Already 140 Haut-Garonnaise municipalities are 100% equipped with LED lighting.

To go further in the ecological transition and control their energy consumption, the elected officials present expressed their wish to develop renewable energy production projects in their territory.

They also discussed the multiple blockages from Architects of Buildings of (ABF) for their renewable energy production projects. Elected officials thus highlighted the inconsistency of State policy encouraging communities to accelerate renewable energies through renewable energy acceleration zones and the practices of ABFs which slow down and block projects. Some of them also indicated that they had not been able to define areas for accelerating renewable energies in their territory due to uncertainties relating to the opinions of the ABF.
