New false note for the ASPM
This Friday evening at the Parriat high school gymnasium, ASPM hosted Creusot VB on behalf of the 2nd day of the men’s regional Volleyball championship. Playing for several seasons at this level, the players from the city of Pilon are already the scarecrow of the group and they have logically assumed their status as favorites against the locals, who are still in the break-in phase.
The match begins at a brisk pace and if Le Creusot quickly takes the advantage by undermining the opponent’s reception, the ASPM fights back to pick up the score failing by one breath in this 1st set bringing hope (25-21 ). Unfortunately, the protégés of coach Nico Verrier will then suffer the assaults of the visitors who literally suffocate them in a second one-sided round (25-12). The 3rd set will follow the same scenario with Montcelliens far too approximate and predictable facing dominant Creusotins who have the luxury of rotating their large squad to master their subject until the end (25-21)
There was therefore no miracle as the logic was respected, the players from the mining area know that they will have to work hard, particularly in reception, to maintain their rank in this tough championship. The will to exist is very present for a group of experienced volleyball players who want to play every shot to the fullest but who still struggle against teams whose players are older than their children.
In sport as in the world of music, it is essential, to last, to remain dynamic and to know how to evolve with the times. If the current performances of the ASPM are closer to those of the singer Renaud than to those of the Rolling Stones, there is no doubt that the Montcellians will be able to reinvent themselves to better adapt.
These very sluggish beginnings are nevertheless rich in lessons, they are a source of motivation one week before a new challenge against team 2 of Creusot VB at the Halle des Sports where the objective of a first success is more than ever relevant.
The ASPM thanks Bon Boeuf whose products delighted the two teams during a post-match at the end of which the locals finally showed themselves to be the strongest but at karaoke…
