The affair has been in the news for almost a week. Anne, a 53-year-old French woman, was scammed out of more than 800,000 euros by scammers posing as the actor. After the hatred and mockery suffered on social networks, her daughter wanted to express herself in “La Grande Semaine”.
An exclusive interview. This Saturday, January 18, the M6 channel, through the program “La Grande Semaine” presented by Ophélie Meunier, landed the daughter of the victim of “fake Brad Pitt” on its set. For almost a week – after the report made in “Sept à quatre” on Sunday January 12 – this scam revealed in broad daylight has been on everyone’s lips.
The victim, a 53-year-old French woman named Anne, had a virtual romantic relationship with the man who posed as the actor. Only, a year and a half later, she discovered that she had been defrauded of more than 800,000 euros. In order to make the deception credible, the scammer applied photo montages, inflammatory messages, screenshots of emails and text messages and even a fake television news report.

Only, three days after the sequence’s buzz, the channel decided to remove the video from the replay platform because of the hatred and mockery it generated. “It’s very difficult for me because everything that affects my mother affects me too”confided the victim’s daughter, Margaux, on the set of M6. And to continue: “We are very close so when I saw what was happening on social networks, I installed Twitter but it was not a good idea. I received a lot of messages, a lot of hate. Lots of very nasty messages that went against my mother. And obviously that makes me feel worse. It’s very complicated psychologically and morally to get up in the morning and tell yourself that your mother is on social networks.”
-«She doesn’t deserve what’s happening to her.”
The latter was the guest of Ophélie Meunier to confide in her state of mind but also and above all to deliver her version of the story. “It’s very complicated not to shed a tear after what we’ve been through”she declared with tremors in her voice. “When you are so close to your mother and you are exposed like that to the view of everyone, of all of France, it is very complicated. Knowing things were said the wrong way. That’s why I’m here today, to deny several things.” Indeed, her mother, Anne, criticized the journalists from “Sept à Eight” for not having told her story faithfully.
“When it comes to scammers, I’ve had forty times, maybe more, moments where I didn’t believe it. Very sincerely, I say every time “This photo is fake and I can see it very clearly, it’s a photomontage”. In the show, obviously, all this is not said because, know that the journalist stayed for two days to interview me, and he only retained what should not have been retained in fact, to give me sully my image and it is only for the purpose of gaining audience”, she protested in a video from the YouTube channel Legend, by Guillaume Pley.
A week after the media coverage of this affair, Ophélie Meunier retraced the whole story – in the company of the victim’s lawyer and also the founder of Findmyscammer.com, a site for identifying your crook – but she also wanted to take news of the victim through her daughter. “We talk every day, we call each other every day,” she said before lamenting: “It’s the descent into hell. Already after this whole story, for a year and a half, it was very complicated for her and for us. But there, the wave was already immense. It’s been a storm, now it’s a descent into hell. She doesn’t deserve what’s happening to her, she doesn’t deserve to be manipulated […] nor all this hatred on social networks. She is a whole woman who is sincere. Basically, it was more prevention that she wanted to do. explained Margaux, emphasizing that her mother was still fragile and therefore hospitalized in Reunion. “Beyond all that, she wanted to end her life.”
