On the set of BFMTV, Tuesday December 17, Julien Odoul asked Manon Aubry to “calm down and have a glass of water”. The remark of the RN deputy did not please the LFI MEP at all, who accused him of sexism.
The atmosphere was particularly tense on the BFMTV set. In a political context that remains uncertain, several personalities were invited to debate on the continuous news channel on the evening of Tuesday, December 17. Among them, Julien Odoul and Manon Aubry got into a heated argument at the end of the show presented by journalist Benjamin Duhamel.
While the MEP from La France insoumise accused the far right of making a “abject and indecent assimilation” between “immigration and insecurity” but also between “immigration and sexual violence”Julien Odoul replied that there was “a sourced and obvious link”. The National Rally deputy cut him off several times, angering Manon Aubry. “You know what, I’m tired now of you not letting me finish my sentences. Enough actually! Enough”she said. “Calm down, relax, Madame Aubry, have a glass of cold water! You are speaking absurdly”then launched Julien Odoul.
The confrontation continued on social networks
The remark of the RN deputy from Yonne did not please the rebellious elected official at all. “No then, the sexist remarks, I take my microphone, I leave”she reacted, threatening to leave the BFMTV set. “The way in which you address the women of this country, to a part of the French population, is abject and unbearable. I felt insulted. (…) You don’t know how to let a woman finish her sentence.”denounced Manon Aubry.
After the televised debate, the confrontation between the two continued on social networks. “Scandalous sexism of the RN deputy Julien Odoul who disrespected me during the entire debate and required a call to order from BFM”wrote the LFI MEP on X (formerly Twitter). “Unlike these Islamo-leftists, the RN does not sort the French according to their skin color or their religion. Yes, you have to calm down and hydrate”replied Julien Odoul, who did not apologize after this new sequence from which the political class is visibly not feeling any better.
