“Giving power back to coaches” is the promise of this new season of “The Voice”. The TF 1 telecrochet will be back at the start of the year for its 14th season, with new coaches, but also a new stage for the candidates, the first channel announced on Wednesday November 27.
No change for the blind auditions, we will still have to try to convince one of the four jurors of the program: Florent Pagny, who is returning, Vianney, who is back, and the two new additions, Zaz and Patricia Kaas.
They will still have a hitherto unprecedented possibility, with the “second chance button”. If none of the coaches returns to a talent, but during the discussions at the end of the performance one of them senses potential, they can activate this button (once only) to give the artist the possibility of having a new blind audition.
But it is above all at the end of these hearings that change will occur. Until now, the coaches each had around fifteen talents in their bag, which they had to gradually eliminate during “battles”, “cross battles” or “super cross battles”, in recent seasons. “They were helpless quite quickly, since it was then the public who voted,” we recognize from ITV, the production company of the international format.
A new mechanism is therefore put in place: groups. No English name just to embellish, the show will be good on stage. The coaches will each have the mission of organizing tables made up of three to five of their candidates, “with a story, a real staging, a show where we don’t know what will happen visually” , underlines the production.
This operation is partly inspired by what is done in the Spanish version “La Voz”, the evening called the “Gran batalla”. A “big battle” where competitors from the same coach on the other side of the Pyrenees compete in three tables so that only half progress to the next stage.
In France, during this new stage, the coaches will have to select only six of their 16 talents, those they consider the best to compete in the “battles”. For this 14th season, they will take place on a single evening compared to three so far, with three “battles” for each coach. From there, will result the 12 candidates who will reach the semi-final, then the four finalists, to find out who will succeed Alphonse, big winner of season 13 in Zazie's team.
